Shirazeh Houshiary Shroud

We worked closely with the visual artist Shirazeh Houshiary to produce the animated film Shroud.

Shroud is the first film-based work Houshiary has created to be presented on an LCD screen.

Two of Houshiary's paintings form the basis of Shroud, the paintings brought together for the piece with narrative through animation. The abstract theme of the film placing itself between form and formlessness, presence and invisibility.

The 3D animation for Houshiary's Veil was created using Autodesk Maya, the film was rendered using Mental Ray, textures were created in Adobe Photoshop, compositing and editing was completed in Adobe After Effects.

Houshiary's film Shroud was first exhibited (press release) as part of Houshiary's exhibition at the Lisson Gallery in New York City between 29th May and 26th July 2008.
