BodyScript is the culmination of a creative project involving young people between the ages of 14-19 from Islington and surrounding areas. Taster workshops, led by dancers from Random, took place in various schools and colleges to recruit participants for a final week of intensive rehearsals, leading to the performance in Sadler's Wells Lilian Baylis Theatre involving participants and dancers from Random.
BodyScript was co-commissioned by Sadler's Wells, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance and Arts Council England.
Collaborating on BodyScript were Wayne McGregor (Direction), Wayne McGregor and the dancers (Choreography), Odette Hughes, Tom Sapsford and Hilary Stainsby (Rehearsals), Mark Hatchard (Animation and Visual Effects), Seth Dubieniec (Animation and Visual Effects), Lucy Carter (Lighting Design), Christopher Charles (Production Manager), Paul Bull (Technical Support).
Hotbox Studios has been an inventive collaborator on a number of our works since 2002, for both large scale theatres and more intimate touring productions. Developing new and arresting techniques for animation that interplay seamlessly with live action on stage they have also developed eloquent sequences for my recent operas at La Scala and Covent Garden.
