We've been working closely with Aegis the Union, upgrading and developing custom functionality for the financial union's Content Management System (CMS). The Aegis the Union CMS powers the financial union's website, plus the representative; learning; and member portals.
Aegis the Union has been growing since 1971; initially formed as a staff association and growing to a trade union which gained independent status in 2008. Aegis focus is on workers' rights in the Finance Industry.
Upgrading to the Umbraco 7 CMS offers Aegis the Union an overhauled admin interface which makes use of the AngularJS JavaScript framework. This means the new Aegis the Union Umbraco 7 CMS is far more user friendly and offers a fully Responsive Web Design (RWD) allowing for the Aegis the Union CMS to be predictably delivered irrespective of device e.g. desktop browser, notebook, tablet or smartphone.
There is no direct upgrade path available from Umbraco 6 to 7; many of the components available for Umbraco 6 are not compatible with Umbraco 7; so we've worked closely with Aegis the Union to recreate all required to allow for the continued functionality of their CMS; website; representative; learning; and member portals.
Additional customisation has included adding a new visual page layout builder to the Umbraco 7 CMS to allow for easier administrative use including more user-friendly page and content layout. We've added Umbraco Custom Grid Editors for all content types, updated all master page templates to C# and Razor views, and updated all custom Microsoft .NET user controls to Razor.
