Umbraco CMS Web Development with Ecommerce Booking and Payment System for Embers Camping

We have been working with Embers Camping upgrading the sustainable outdoor camping holiday company's website to the latest Umbraco CMS version, whilst adding a new online booking and payment ecommerce system!

The Embers Camping vision is simple: a large open site, sleeping under canvas with a good campfire, filled with people having a great time and creating happy memories. With campsites in Surrey, Sussex, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Kent, and The New Forest, and a keen focus on sustainability, from friendly staff and bell tents to snack bars and shower shacks, Embers Camping offers campers everything required…plus a whole lot more…to enjoy a perfect openair getaway!

With the transition to version 9, the Umbraco CMS moved from the ASP.NET framework to ASP.NET Core, and with it brought a significantly updated codebase. Due to this, there is no direct upgrade path e.g. you can't click an upgrade button to move from earlier versions to Umbraco 9 and beyond! To upgrade to Umbraco 9 and later from previous versions, all components need to be rebuilt to be compatible with the ASP.NET Core framework.

We've therefore worked very closely with the Embers Camping team to meticulously redevelop their website and its CMS for Umbraco 9, each page and feature being checked and tested prior to the new version of the Embers Camping website being launched.

In addition to the Umbraco CMS rebuild, we've developed a new online booking and payment ecommerce system for Embers Camping, including Stripe Merchant Provider integration, a simplified Mobile First Responsive version for smartphones and tablets, custom email branding, and location-based limiting on availability.

Monthly Website Maintenance

The Embers Camping website is now being maintained by our team on a regular monthly basis, with a dedicated number of hours per month available to Embers Camping which can be used for website design and/or development. Having pre-booked their web design and development hours Embers Camping is benefiting from a discount on our regular on-demand hourly rates, and has the option of either using their pre-booked hours on a monthly basis, or rolling hours over for up to three months for larger projects.

Managed Umbraco Website Hosting

The Embers Camping website is being hosted on our Managed Umbraco Hosting which runs on UK based Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, includes a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and offers multiple UK availability zones designed and managed in alignment with best security practices and IT security standards. This all provides a fast, secure, and reliable hosting platform for the new Embers Camping website.
