Umbraco Website and PAAM Web App Development for DC Site Services

We have been working with DC Site Services upgrading the Event Recruitment and Management Company's Umbraco CMS based website and developing new functionality for DC Site Services' PAAM Web App.

Founded in 1993, DC Site Services provides thousands of event staff to hundreds of events and festivals across the UK each year. Events DC Site Services works with include the Royal Windsor Events, Taste of London, Glastonbury Festival, Formula 1, Henley Festival, Latitude Festival, Reading Festival, Leeds Festival, Big Feastival, BBC Gardeners World, and Oktoberfest, to name just a few! DC Site Services is best known for providing traffic management and car parking, litter, waste, recycling management, venue, arena and stadium cleaning, although provides a variety of additional services including stewarding, SIA security, site crew and even forklift drivers!

Website Development

The DC Site Services website runs on the Umbraco CMS, Umbraco is a fast and highly customisable CMS allowing for websites to be built without the bloat that many common off-the-shelf website CMS result in; hundreds of features that are never used that complicate the user experience and slow performance.

We've worked closely with DC Site Services to upgrade their website's Umbraco CMS to Umbraco 10.

There is no direct upgrade path from Umbraco 7 to Umbraco 10, so upgrading the DC Site Services CMS was a complex process, although worth the journey as Umbraco 10 is one of the most major updates to Umbraco in recent years, bringing with it many benefits over DC Site Services previous Umbraco 7 CMS, these including:

• A new Admin UI for the CMS which has won numerous usability awards.
• An improved API structure and modernised development environment making it easier to maintain code and implement new features, reducing technical debt and improving ROI.
• Headless CMS support further developed; allowing for Umbraco to be used as a backend content management system; serving content to multiple platforms e.g. mobile apps, web apps, and IoT devices via system APIs.
• Speed and performance improvements across the board assisting admins, users, and website visitors.
• Security enhancements to every area of the CMS protecting against current, new and emerging threats.
• The scalability of Umbraco has been developed upon to assist those with very large websites and web based systems.
• Long-term support (LTS) providing feature and security updates.

The DC Site Services website is hosted on our Managed Umbraco Web Hosting which runs on UK based Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, includes a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and offers multiple UK availability zones designed and managed in alignment with best security practices and IT security standards. This all provides a fast, secure, and reliable hosting platform for the new DC Site Services website.

PAAM Web App Development

DC Site Services also uses our PAAM Web App to recruit and manage the thousands of staff the company employs each year. We've worked with DC Site Services to extend their PAAM App. New features we've developed have included:

• Admin and user side profile and application updates.
• Targeted digital recruitment marketing focused custom exports.
• Event based custom PNC exports updated to align with current client requirements.

DC Site Services' PAAM App includes a wealth of functionality by design, and as a responsive mobile friendly cloud-based system is accessible from anywhere in the world on any device. Being a custom designed web app, as DC Site Services' requirements change, their PAAM App can evolve with them, new custom features developed and added on-demand to fit the developing needs of the staff using the DC Site Services' PAAM App.
