Web App Development for Big Bang Young Scientists and Engineers Fair PAAM App

We have been working with Big Bang Young Scientists and Engineers Fair developing new features for their event volunteer recruitment and management PAAM App!

Led by EngineeringUK in partnership with over 200 organisations across government, industry, education and the wider science and engineering community, the Big Bang Fair is an award-winning UK event celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Targeted at young people aged 7-19, The Big Bang Fair combines exciting theatre, interactive workshops, exhibits and careers information from STEM professionals. Starting in 2009 and attracting 6,500 visitors, The Big Bang Fair has grown to attract an audience of over 70,000 a year becoming the UK's largest celebration of STEM for young people, and the largest youth event in the UK.

The Big Bang Fair wouldn't be possible without the large team of volunteers they recruit each year to help run the event. Big Bang Fair volunteers help across the event by demonstrating and explaining the experiments and inspiring the audience to get involved. Big Bang Fair volunteers gain a huge amount of the experience helping to run the event, learning new skills in communication, problem solving and teamwork, plus being offered the opportunity to gain event management experience and network with local and national employers.

Big Bang Fair came to us in need of a web application to help them recruit and manage their volunteers. We worked with Big Bang Fair to design a customised version of our PAAM web app, developed to slot in seamlessly to Big Bang Fair's well-established volunteer recruitment and management workflow.

We've worked with Big Bang Fair to update their PAAM web app for 2022, design and development updates have included:

• A full system rebrand
• User (applicant) side role specific sections and options for applicants
• Admin side UI updates following changes to the applicant side

We've also provided system training for new members of the Big Bang Fair team.

Big Bang Fair's PAAM Web App includes a wealth of functionality by design, and as a responsive mobile friendly cloud-based system is accessible from anywhere in the world on any device. Being a custom designed web app, as Big Bang Fair's requirements change, their PAAM App can evolve with them, new custom features developed and added on-demand to fit the developing needs of the staff and volunteers using the Big Bang Fair PAAM App.
