Website Design and Multilingual WordPress Web Development for Oxkem

We have been working with Oxkem developing a new Multilingual WordPress website for the metal salts manufacturing company based in Reading, Berkshire.

Founded over 100 years ago in 1913, Oxkem is a UK-based chemical company with a global reputation for expertise in metal salts. One of the world's leading manufacturers and exporters of trivalent chromium, vanadium, and aluminium compounds, Oxkem is also in demand as a tolling partner for other companies. Fast-growing and innovative, but with a tradition going back more than a century, Oxkem exports to more than 40 countries around the world. Oxkem's manufacturing plant, located just west of London, offers the capacity to produce more than 15,000 tons of finished product on an annual basis. This includes the output from our state-of-the-art vanadium sulphate electrolytic plant, which can run to more than four million litres of chemicals per year.

Prior to moving into the creative and technical development of the new Oxkem website, we worked with the team at Oxkem to map the digital journey of one of their typical users, to make sure the website's layout and navigation was as good a fit as possible. We then performed a full content audit to clarify copy and image requirements, before moving ahead with copywriting and photo shoots.

The new website we've designed for Oxkem has been developed upon the WordPress Content Management System (CMS). We developed a ground up customised WordPress CMS and WordPress Theme to the Oxkem website's requirements. Following the Oxkem website going live the WordPress CMS allows the Oxkem team to quickly and easily login to add new pages, images, and copy.

The new Oxkem website offers visitors a Mobile First Responsive Web Design (RWD) allowing for the Oxkem website's content to be optimised for mobile interaction and predictably delivered irrespective of device. The addition of custom mobile device navigation results in the new Oxkem website having a highly optimised browsing experience.

We integrated Advanced Custom Fields Professional (ACF Pro) into the new Oxkem website CMS; ACF Pro allows for custom post and content structure using predefined templates thus maintaining consistency across the Oxkem website.

Following completion of the Oxkem website we provided WordPress CMS training to allow the team at Oxkem to keep their new website up to date moving forward.

The Oxkem website is being hosted on our Managed WordPress Hosting which runs on UK based Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, includes a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and offers multiple UK availability zones designed and managed in alignment with best security practices and IT security standards. This all provides a fast, secure, and reliable hosting platform for the new Oxkem website.
